The Asheville Lady Cougar Field Hockey team completed the 2004 season with an outstanding 14-3 record. AHS was undefeated in the Western Carolina Conference (AHS, Freedom, R.J. Reynolds, Mt. Tabor, Myers Park and W. Forsyth) with a 6-0 record.
Coach Lauren Kaye's Lady Cougars lost 1-0 to Mt. Tabor in the state semi-finals on a controversial penalty shot that was awarded in error. Asheville out-shot Mt. Tabor 30-1 in the game. AHS defeated Raleigh Jordan 3-1 for third place in NC.
