Raider defense dominant in win over Northwest Cabarrus
South got three rushing TDs from Deandre Harris, a dominating effort from defensive end Cadarreus Mason and an electrifying 94-yard interception return from Mark McDaniel to manhandle Northwest Cabarrus 27-6.
Dylan Walker and Quan Glaspy picked off two passes apiece for South (1-2, 1-0) in its NPC opener.

Friday Night Heros: 1983 South Rowan Raiders
South Rowan's 1983 football team won 11 games and two championships and carried rookie head coach Larry Deal off the field in an emotional November celebration, but it's usually forgotten in discussions of the best teams in county history.

Kannapolis defeats Raiders 28-7
The Raiders fall to 0-2 after Friday's loss to Kannapolis. South pulled to within a touchdown but failed to capitalize on long drives that stalled in the red zone.
Blake Houston finished the game with 141 yards passing, 105 of that to receiver B.J. Grant. Deandre Harris had 50 yards rushing and Quan Glaspy added 46 yards.
South will host Northwest Cabarrus next Friday. We will honor the players and coaches from the 1983 NCHSAA 3A Div-II Western State Championship team that went 11-2.

Salisbury nips South Rowan 16-14 in season opener
South Rowan controlled the clock, outgained Salisbury on offense and looked every bit as good as the Hornets for three quarters Friday night.
