Welcome to the Asheville Educational Television Home Page! Asheville Educational Television (AET) can be seen in Asheville and Buncombe County (North Carolina) o­n Charter Cable Channel 16.

A ten-member Commission appointed by the Asheville City Council originally regulated AET.  Upon completion of its startup mission and upon request of its members, the Commission was dissolved by the Asheville City Council in March 2007. 

AET is currently operated by a consortium of local educational institutions comprised of Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, and the University of North Carolina at Asheville.  The channel is provided by the City Council and by the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners under a franchise agreement with Charter Communications.  Funding for operations is provided solely by the institutions and the County Commissioners.  

Programming o­n AET includes bulletin board announcements, special events (e.g., facilitated presentations of educational topics), high school commencement, live School Board meetings, musical concerts, dramatic performances, educational programs via satellite, and high school and college athletic events.
