Polk Democrats Choose Hill For Sheriff (11/20/08)

Polk County could have a new Sheriff by Friday evening.
Thursday night, democrats gathered to nominate former deputy Don Hill to succeed Chris Abril, who resigned last Sunday, hours before pleading guilty to lesser charges in a sexual assault trial.

Hill worked under Abril until he was fired last August.

If Polk County Commissioners approve the selection, Hill will be sworn-in at a meeting on Friday evening.

Hill promises to make changes to the department to restore good relations with the community.
