Wrestling From Herman Bright, Wrestling Head Coach

Over the weekend Damien Dean and Ari Rosch represented Asheville High at the State Wrestling Tournament in Winston-Salem.  By making it into the tournament, Damien and Ari both have the distinct honor of being among the top 16 wrestlers of their respective weight classes.  However, Ari wrestled well enough to be ranked as o­ne of the top eight 152 lb. wrestlers in the state.  Please congratulate both of these gentlemen if you see them as Ari finishes his high school wrestling career o­n a high note and Damien begins his.

Football A look at Asheville High's first football title follows, taken from the 1922 Yearbook. (Asheville later won the state men's basketball championship the same year). Click on the pictures to enlarge.State Championship Team - Click to Enlarge    The football team of 1922 will always be remembered and will go down in the High School’s history as the best team that ever represented the school. This year fully fifty men reported at the beginning of the season, and three teams were selected from this squad. At times it was very difficult to determine the first and second teams, but finally the squad was narrowed down to seventeen first-string men.

Football  Asheville -- "BMW" Performance continues to impress as Crezdon Butler, Kadeem Morgan, and Johnny White, signed letters of intent to play football at the collegiate level.

Butler will play at Clemson, Morgan will play at Western Carolina University, and White will play at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The three seniors were part of Asheville's 3A State Championship team, who won the school's first NCHSAA Football Championship since 1922.
