By Jacob Messer, Asheville Citizen-Times Staff Writer  ASHEVILLE - Asheville native Charles Thomas made his major league debut with the Atlanta Braves Wednesday for their game against the Florida Marlins. Thomas, 25, who was leading the International League in hitting, played at Asheville High and Western Carolina University. The Asheville High Cougar baseball team defeated MAC Conference rival Erwin by a score of 11-4 in the regular season finale on May 11, spoiling Erwin's chances for a state playoff berth. The game was taped for delayed broadcast by the Cougar Sports Network.
