Soccer Asheville--In perhaps the state's largest soccer rivalry game, Asheville tied Roberson 1-1 when the game was called due to weather conditions.

However, the game could have declared a Roberson victory by a score of 2-1. An official incorrectly awarded a goal to Roberson that hit the side of the net.  John Mitchell of T.C. Roberson attempted a header off of a corner kick that missed the goal.

Mitchell and Roberson coach Rob Wilcher corrected the official and refused the goal.

And another chapter of the Asheville-Roberson rivalry comes to a close with a sign of sportsmanship.

Soccer Asheville -- The Men's Soccer Team advances to the Western Region Finals after a 1-0 victory in sudden death against the Charlotte Catholic Cougars. The next game is in Mooresville, NC against the Mooresville High School Blue Devils and is o­ne game away from the State Championships. Good luck, Cougars!

Soccer Asheville -- The Cougar Soccer team handlily defeated R-S Central 4-0 in the third round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs at Memorial Stadium o­n Wednesday. The game was taped for broadcast by the Cougar Sports Network and will be shown o­n Asheville Educational Television channel 16. "Soccer Bob" Somerville provided the play-by-play, joined by special guest Patrick Gladys, head coach of the A.C. Reynolds soccer team, who provided color analysis.

The Cougars' next game will be November 16 at home against Charlotte Catholic (#1, Queen City Conference).  Go Cougars!
