ASHEVILLE—Several records were broken and county bragging rights lost when the returning 3A state champion Asheville lost to crosstown rival A.C. Reynolds. A.C. Reynolds had not previously beaten Asheville since 2002, and Friday’s win marks the first time the Rockets have beaten Asheville under coach Steve McCurry. In addition to breaking a 15-game consecutive winning streak and undefeated record at home on artificial turf, Asheville also broke its streak of consecutive games scoring in double figures (68) which they were ranked #2 in the state. Worst of all for Asheville fans, county bragging rights go to the Rockets, who tied their series against Asheville 12-12.
