WINSTON-SALEM -- High winds knock out the power in the LJVM Coliseum and the annex before the Lady Cougars get a chance to take the court. The game will be rescheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM in the main Coliseum. The Asheville players will be forced to spend the night in Winston-Salem and miss a day of class. A CSN representative will be at the NCHSAA press conference Monday in Chapel Hill to get information about the regional game and upcoming championship, and the CSN Highlights crew will be at the game tomorrow night. WINSTON-SALEM -- The Lady Cougars eliminate East Rowan Saturday night 74-59 at the LJVM Coliseum Annex to advance to the NCHSAA 3A Basketball Western Region Finals. The Cougars are now 26-1. They will play High Point Central tomorrow (29-1) for the Western Region Championship. They held the lead most of the game by 20 points. The Asheville High Lady Cougars defeated the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at home in the first round of the NCHSAA playoffs 72-38. Four Cougar players reached double digits in scoring: #32 Rashanda McCants dominated with 30 points, #55 Danielle Burgin had 12 points, #23 Lauren Powell had 11, and #11 Kirbie Guillebeaux had 10. For the Mustangs, #23 Cetera Degrafenreid had 18 points. The next game for the Lady Cougars will be against the North Buncombe Blackhawks at home on Friday, February 27, weather permitting.
