Asheville, NC - March 8, 2005 - The Cougar Sports Network's cameras will be at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh this Saturday to cover the 3A Women's Basketball Championship for tape-delayed broadcast, CSN Executive Producer Tim Amos announced today. "We are grateful that the NCHSAA has granted us broadcast rights for this special event for the third consecutive year," said Amos. "Our truck will roll out of Asheville at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, (weather permitting) to be set up and ready for the 5:00 p.m. tipoff. We will have a top-notch crew producing the game, including Emmy Scholar Jared Amos (Senior Producer), and Asheville High Video Teacher Michael Luther (Director). Current Asheville High students will also be playing major roles in the production. This will be an excellent experience for our students - televising a game from yet another major Division I sports arena." As previously announced, Scot Powell and Lewis Isaac will be the commentators for their third consecutive Championship Game. The game will be aired on Charter Cable Channel 16 at a date yet to be announced. Here are some links that provide information about the game:

Yes, We're Working on it . . .The Cougar Sports Network broadcast crew is making tentative plans to televise (via tape delay) the Women's 3A Basketball Championship game at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh on Saturday, March 12th. Two things need to happen first: (1) the Asheville Lady Cougars must defeat Fred T. Foard High on March 5th, and (2) final arrangements and approval must be secured from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. "The NCHSAA has a contract with an independent production company, but we have asked for permission to do our own broadcast," said Tim Amos, CSN Executive Producer. "Rick Strunk (Associate Executive Director) of the NCHSAA has always been very accommodating in trying to work with us, so I am hopeful that this can be worked out. We are so proud of the Lady Cougars' accomplishments and we want to be there for their third consecutive championship and the completion of an undefeated season." As soon as a decision is made, it will be posted on this website. Veteran announcers Scot Powell and Lewis Isaac will be there to call the action if everything falls into place. Viewers may remember that Isaac predicted in last year's championship broadcast that the Lady Cougars would return to the championship game this year to complete an undefeated season. Let's hope he's right!Anyone wishing to provide financial support for this endeavor should email Amos at tim (at) cougarsportsnet (dot) com.
