The Asheville Cougars football team ended the 2010 season in a familiar place: deep in the 3A playoffs. The Cougars (10-3) lost 31-20 to Hibriten High School (12-2) of Lenoir in the third round (quarterfinals). Congratulations to the players and coaches for an extraordinary effort this season!

If the turkey ever gets tired of symbolizing the Thanksgiving holiday, maybe it can be replaced by another animal. A Cougar? For the eighth time in nine years, Asheville High is still playing football in late November.
