 The Asheville High Booster Club sponsored a special tribute to honor Athletic Director Lou Fogle, who will retire at the end of the 2003-2004 school year. Fogle is completing his 18th year at Asheville High. As Cougar Head Football coach for 14 seasons, Coach Fogle never had a losing season, compiling a record 115 wins and only 44 losses. The Cougars won six conference Championships and advanced to the 3A State Championship Game in 1999.

First, as a four-sport star at Lee Edwards High School in the 1950s and later as a coach and athletic director at Asheville High, Peterson earned a reputation as an athlete and coach who was admired for his accomplishments on and off the field.
