Baseball The Asheville High Cougar baseball team defeated MAC Conference rival Erwin by a score of 11-4 in the regular season finale o­n May 11, spoiling Erwin's chances for a state playoff berth.  The game was taped for delayed broadcast by the Cougar Sports Network.

AthleticNews The Asheville High Booster Club sponsored a special tribute to honor Athletic Director Lou Fogle, who will retire at the end of the 2003-2004 school year.  Fogle is completing his 18th year at Asheville High.  As Cougar Head Football coach for 14 seasons, Coach Fogle never had a losing season, compiling a record 115 wins and only 44 losses. The Cougars won six conference Championships and advanced to the 3A State Championship Game in 1999.

ASHEVILLE - Bruce Peterson has been able to touch the lives of many people in Western North Carolina because of athletics. First, as a four-sport star at Lee Edwards High School in the 1950s and later as a coach and athletic director at Asheville High, Peterson earned a reputation as an athlete and coach who was admired for his accomplishments o­n and off the field.
