Football Congratulations to Asheville football coach Danny Wilkins for being named NC Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.  Wilkins led the Cougars to a perfect 15-0 season and State 3A Championship this year and has a 40-3 record over the last three years. Coach Wilkins was also named the WNC Coach of the Year and will coach in the East-West All Star Game in July.  These are well-deserved honors for a fine man and a fine coach!!

(No Coach, this is not a dream!)

Football Asheville's Crezdon Butler continues to add to his impressive collection of post-season awards which already include:  MAC Co-Player-of-the-Year (with Johnny White); State 3A Championship MVP; Shrine Bowl selection (contributed to victory over SC team); and AP All-State Team (defensive back).  Butler recently finished tied for second place in the AP voting for NC Player-of-the-Year and has been named WNC Player-of-the-Year.  He was also the first to break the career rushing record of Asheville High's Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice this season and is 112 yards short of teammate White's school record career mark with 5,011 rushing yards.

When asked what he was going to do with all the hardware he modestly stated "I guess I'll just stack it up."   Indeed!
