track Sophia TreakleSophia Treakle had a fantastic year in outdoor track culminating at the State 3A Track Meet in Greensboro where she doubled with state championships in both 100m and 300m hurdles.  Coming off a winning distance season with Brian Schultz and the varsity Cross Country team, sophomore Treakle ran the indoor winter season competing in the 300m sprint and 60m hurdles, finishing third in hurdles at the 3A State Meet in Chapel Hill.

Using this as a warm up, Treakle dominated hurdles in western North Carolina throughout the spring with comfortable wins for Asheville High and Coach Randy Ashley in 100m and 300m hurdles at every school meet.  Subsequent achievements included not only MVP honors for girls' track at the Mountain Athletic Conference Meet at North Buncombe, but also new records in both hurdle races at the Regional Meet in Cullowhee, followed by the strong double state championships.
