In today’s game we face Asheville School.  In the Tuesday home game against the Christ Church School Cavaliers, Elizabeth Keil made the first goal in the eleventh minute of the game.  The Cougars were scoreless until the last nine minutes when Elizabeth Keil scored three more goals, followed by a goal from Elizabeth Gaston.

The Thursday game at West Forsyth saw a scoreless first half.  Elizabeth Keil scored in the first five minutes of the second half with a dive into the goal (along with many other team members!).  Sarah Scanzoni scored midway through the second half. West Forsyth quickly answered with a goal.  Kelly Olesiuk sealed the win, scoring our third goal in the last five minutes of the game.

The Cougars are now 6-1. In the past two games, our offense has been unstoppable in the last ten minutes of play!  The Monday game at Patton was cancelled as this new school lacks goals. After traveling to Winston-Salem on Wednesday, our next home game will be Thursday, September 20 against Freedom.

Leah Downey scored with less thanthree minutes left in t he first half. Kelly Olesiuk and Elizabeth Keil sealed the victory by each scoring in the first ten minutes of the second half. Our Monday game was at Carolina Day. Kelly Olesiuk scored in the first five minutes. The Cougars held their ground, winning 1-0. Kudos to our defense for three straight shutouts! The Cougars enter today’s home game versus Reagan High School with a 2-1 record.  Revenge was sweet in Winston Salem on August 30th as the Cougars avenged last year’s season ender. RJ Reynolds was no match for the Cougars, who won 3-0. Catherine Looper scored in the first 15 minutes.  Later in the half, a burst of shots on goal was ended with a score from Sarah Scanzoni.  Catherine Looper scored late in the half, giving Asheville a 3-0 lead going into half time. The second half was scoreless. Our home game against Spartanburg (August 28th) saw 6 different scorers for the Cougars with a score of 9-0. Elizabeth Keil had 3 goals. Elizabeth Gaston, Mallory Silver, Hannah Dave, Leah Downey, and Catherine Looper also scored. Goalie Ryan Nuckolls made a rare appearance on the field, even touching the ball with a stick!  Our next home game is on the 11th against Christ Church.

The Cougars enter today’s game with a 0-1-1 record. Saturday’s game against Chapel Hill High School (CHHS) had an exciting start with Sarah Scanzoni scoring in the first five minutes. CHHS scored late in the first half after a flurry of well defended shots. Our opponents scored again in the last two minutes of the first half. Their momentum carried over into the second half. Mother Nature caused the game to be suspended with 14 minutes remaining in the second half. The final score was 1-4.

Today we face Spartanburg Day School. Thursday we travel to R.J. Reynolds in Winston-Salem. The next home game is Thursday, September 6.
