Burlington, NC - October 29, 2004 - Asheville High sophomore Alexa Ely won the 3-A singles tennis championship over Hickory's Emily Mauser.  After dropping her first set 6-2 to Mauser, Ely rebounded to win the next two sets, 6-4 and 6-0 at the Burlington Tennis Center.  Ely and Mauser will likely have a rematch Tuesday when the Cougars (20-0) travel to Hickory for the third round of the 3-A dual team playoffs.  Congratulations to Alexa Ely!!
