February 12, 2011 - Fayetteville, NC - The Asheville High Boys Track team won its third consecutive NCHSAA Championship by taking first place in the 1A/2A/3A winter meet. The Cougars won both the indoor and outdoor state titles last year.
The Cougars scored 55 points to handily defeat runner-up Marvin Ridge (39 points). Daisaun White won the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 4.5 inches. Jason Thompson won the long jump with a jump of 22 feet, 3.25 inches. The Cougars also won the 1600 meter relay with a time of 3:32.00. The relay team consisted of Jason Thompson, Kris Lordman, Calvin Clark, and T.J. Davidson.
For the first time in 24 years, the meet was held outdoors at Reid Ross Classical School in Fayetteville because of the lack of an available indoor facility in North Carolina.
