THE RIVALRY CONTINUES A.C. Reynolds at Asheville - August 27, 2004 - Asheville High School Memorial Stadium
The Asheville Cougars take on longtime rival A.C. Reynolds Friday Night in one of the most anticipated games this early in the season and the season opener for both teams. The Rockets lead the series with an all-time record of 11-8, but the Cougars have a significant amount of strength returning against a young Rocket team. Formerly MAC rivals, the intensity in the rivalry between these schools still remains strong!
CSN would also like to welcome a new partner: Big WISE 1310 AM in Asheville! The inaugural broadcast of the Cougar Sports Radio Network will begin tonight from the booth once held by the press box's namesake Zeb Lee, who broadcast every Asheville High Football game for over 40 years, ending in 1994. Familiar voices will be behind the microphones as the "Voice of Cougar Basketball" CSN commentator Scot Powell joins sports commentator and WOXL-FM personality Pat Ryan.We welcome WISE and hope to begin a new tradition of coverage for the Cougars for another 40 years and more!
The Cougar Sports Network also begins its 12th year of televised coverage. Hundreds of middle, high school, and college students as well as volunteers have contributed to help make these broadcasts possible since 1993. This summer, CSN began showing "Classic Cougar Sports" from previous football seasons, including 1993's matchup against the Rockets with former NFL standout John Avery playing for the Cougars. The rebroadcast of past games may continue if interest warrants.
