Franklin, PA – July 29, 2008 – The Franklin (PA) Area School Board has approved the retirement of the #41 football jersey of former Franklin High School football great Lou Fogle during one of the football games this year.
Fogle earned 11 varsity letters while at Franklin, was co-captain of the 1960 undefeated football team and set the school's receiving record that stood for 47 years until it was broken by Nate Byham. Fogle later starred at tight end for Clemson before becoming an outstanding high school coach in the Carolinas. Fogle is the all-time winningest coach at Asheville High School with a record of 119-48-1 (1972-74 and 1988-99) and has over 200 total high school coaching wins. A well-deserved honor for an outstanding individual!
