Coach Randy Qualitza

Coach Randy Qualitza has been hired by Asheville High School as the new Wrestling coach and Physical Education teacher beginning with the 2004-05 school year.

Coach Q has been a head wrestling coach for 28 years and is in the Indiana Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame as an inductee in the coaching catageory. He is passionate about what the sport of wrestling can do for young men. He has just returned from the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis and now his interest is to see if the teaching and coaching positions are good for him personally as well as the Asheville Cougars.

"If there is a big interest in having the wrestling program be a contender in the state championship each year, then this is the place I would like to end my coaching career, " said Coach Qualitza.

He has coached over 400 individual champions which includes four state champions in Indiana and has coached 52 Team Championships.

There are several goals that he has and o­ne is to start a Cougar Wrestling Alumni group.  He will discuss in more detail his goals and objectives for immediate implementation and a long-range five year plan in future posts o­n the Cougar Sports Network Wrestling Message Board.
