The Asheville High Cougar baseball team defeated MAC Conference rival Erwin by a score of 11-4 in the regular season finale on May 11, spoiling Erwin's chances for a state playoff berth. The game was taped for delayed broadcast by the Cougar Sports Network. Senior pitcher Robert Kisiah pitched a complete game, striking out eight Warriors and scattering seven hits. Kisiah also went 3-5 at the plate, with a single, double and home run. Scott Grether hit 3-4, Owen McClellan had two doubles, and Scott Russell and Demo Sawyer had two hits each to help the Cougars’ 15-hit offensive effort. Erwin has previously defeated AHS three times this season. Asheville finished the season with a MAC record of 8-8, and 11-11 overall.
