Note: This was an April Fool's Day article. We are not currently aware of any plans to purchase new scoreboards at AHS (But wouldn't it be nice?)
Asheville -- It was recently announced that Asheville High School will be installing new video scoreboards in the football stadium and gymnasium. Players and coaches are excited about the new systems which will be installed immediately.
The cost of the new scoreboards will be approximately $400,000, which will be completely funded through the latest school construction bond.
The new basketball scoreboard will remain four sided, and be modeled after the Carolina Center scoreboard:

The new football scoreboard will look similar to this one at Stanford:

The old scoreboards are in need of replacement and nearly unusable for high school sports. The basketball scoreboard will immediately be reinstalled in the Asheville Civic Center. The gymnasium scoreboard was installed in the early 1990's, and the football scoreboard was installed in 2000.
School administrators were quoted as saying "We need our scoreboard to reflect the quality of the teams that we field every year. After installing artificial turf led our football team to their first state championship in over 80 years, we decided that something else was needed to continue to set our teams apart." Additionally, instant replays should make the game more interesting to watch!
