Asheville - September 16, 2005 - The Asheville Cougar football team (#3, 3A) defeated Brevard High (#2, 2A) by a score of 17-0 in their 2005 home opener and first football game o­n the long-awaited synthetic turf at Asheville High Memorial Stadium.

Seniors Crezdon Butler and Johnny White each had TD runs and Neville Hayes kicked a 37 yard field goal.  Perhaps the most impressive effort of the night was by the Cougar defense, who shut out the potent Blue Devil offense.  The Cougar "D" recovered two fumbles and senior Vincent Henry had a key interception.

The Cougar Sports Network televised the game and the new turf looks beautiful o­n TV.  Asheville moves to 3-0 o­n the season versus non-conference opponents.
