
Asheville Girls Basketball senior standout
Rashanda McCants was recently selected as one of twenty women to play in the
Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American Game at the University of Indianapolis on April 2nd. She has also been named a
McDonald's All-American and will play in that prestigious all-star classic at the University of Notre Dame on March 30th.
McCants (6'2", 20.6 ppg, 7.9 rebs, 5.1 assts, 5.2 steals, 3.2 blocks) is one of only four WNC girls to score over 2,000 career points. Last season, she was named the 2004 Asheville Citizen-Times All-WNC Player of the Year, and iHigh.com's 3A Miss Basketball for North Carolina. She will play for the UNC Lady Tarheels next season.
McCants shares the All-American honor with two of her family members: brother Rashad McCants (UNC-CH) in basketball, and cousin Cameron Maybin (T.C. Roberson HS) in baseball. Congratulations, Rashanda!
